🕎 Kvelling and Hanukkah in SoCal 🕎

On Election Day, we won the House and elected the most diverse and multicultural class of representatives this county has ever seen. While we celebrate making history, we also hold the tragedy of lost homes, camps, neighborhoods, and communities to fire. In this complex moment, we know our country requires bold, moral leadership to build a world that will be safe and just for years to come.

This Hanukkah, we are grateful to know that some of that bold, moral leadership is already coming from Bend the Arc’s Jeremiah Fellows; it is both a miracle and a blessing to get to know these incredible young Jewish leaders who have spent the past six months growing their ability to fight for justice for the long haul.

We’re excited to invite you to a special Hanukkah celebration in honor of their graduation.

You’re invited to Bend the Arc’s Festival of Rights, honoring our Jeremiah Fellows.

When: Tuesday, December 4th from 6:00 - 9:00 PM

Where:  Private home in Sherman Oaks — address provided upon RSVP

What: Join us for a special gathering to honor the work of young Jewish leaders in our Jeremiah fellowship program. Hear directly from the Fellows, meet Bend the Arc’s new Chief Strategy Officer, Ginna Green, connect with Bend the Arc community in LA, nosh on delicious vegan & gluten-free hors-d'oeuvres, desserts, and beverages, and celebrate Hanukkah together.

RSVP and invite loved ones.

Since July, our Jeremiah Fellows have come together monthly to build meaningful community, explore the intersections of Jewish identity and social justice, and work on local and statewide campaigns alongside our partners.

Here in LA, Jeremiah Fellows have made an impact by:

  • 🏛 Leading Bend the Arc campaigns for statewide money bail reform and permanent affordable housing in LA,
  • ✊ Standing in solidarity with immigrants to decry ICE, family separations and more, plus helping train 1,000 Jews in how to respond in-the-moment to ICE’s constant raids on workplaces in LA,
  • 🚪 Driving canvassing efforts in two critical swing districts, CA-25 (where Democrat Katie Hill defeated Steve Knight) and CA-45 (where Democrat Katie Porter defeated Mimi Walters), including knocking on over 5,770 doors,
  • 🌟 And so much more!

We’re kvelling at everything these amazing leaders have accomplished. In the face of a horrifying surge of white nationalism in this country, we take inspiration from our Jeremiah Fellows who keep showing up to spread our Jewish and American values of compassion and dignity for all. It is important in times like these to celebrate our victories and growth together.

That’s why we hope you’ll join us this Hanukkah to celebrate 11 outstanding young Jewish leaders and all we’ve accomplished together as Bend the Arc: Southern California this past year.

RSVP to join us at the Festival of Rights celebration on Tuesday, December 4.

PS: Applications are open to join the next Jeremiah Fellowship cohort! Learn more and spread the word.
